Mayday! Mayday! For Everyone Mired in the Muck of Spring.

It’s spring, and like the land, many people I love are in a time of transition. There must be something in the air.

Some romanticize spring, but up where I live, spring is pretty much the worst time of year. Yes, it is nice that the thermometers creep above 32. But spring in the Northland is cold, wet, muddy, and gross. You can’t count on the leaves budding until late May, and even in early June, you put seedlings out at your own risk.

At least winter was clean and orderly, and we had the tools to deal with the cold. Spring is just a chaotic mess.

And so, I am praying for everyone mired down in the muck of spring. May summer come quickly, and grow an abundant harvest.

They Shall Be like a tree
