In the Beginning: Oneness, Equality, and Women in the Old Testament: The Women in Ministry Sermon Series

My friend James preached a great sermon this past week about God’s original plan in creating humans male and female (synopsis: so they could experience oneness and community, not so the male would have someone to help him get his chores done), talked about some of the misunderstandings of the first three chapters of Genesis that he and many of us were taught growing up, and did a whirlwind overview of some of the female leaders God put in place in the Old Testament: Miriam, Deborah, Huldah and the like. He also addressed the damage that entitlement, bitterness, and power struggles can lead to in relationships, especially when the genders view one another as “the enemy.” The REAL enemy loves to strike at oneness. We need to go back and submit to Gods plan for love, respect, and mutual submission between the genders, who are called to work together to as co-regents stewarding the earth.

You can listen to the sermon here. He’ll be tackling an overview of women in the New Testament this coming week, and I am really looking forward to it!
